Monroe County Cross Country Preseason Meeting

Minutes—8/17/06

• Meeting started at 7:35pm.
• Number of officials needed at each meet from home school was taken. Official duties of home team covered—reporting results—course set up
• No concerns were had concerning schedule
• Course changes discussed—Mendon West: elimination of the first sharp downhill on the rollers to prevent injury. Finish of course set back behind swing sets. There were concerns that bringing the course closer to the bathroom would cause problems during counties.
• Proposal is to change the Mendon Ponds course for one year and see how it works. It will be discussed at the post-season meeting. The proposal passed with seven coaches opposed to the change.
• Black Creek: Course changes discussed from last year. Also concerns about running along the road—could move to trails that parallel the road. Motion was made to accept changes and move course into trails. Motion accepted unanimously
• English Road: “Basil Marella”—changes were made to alleviate the two sharper down hills in the course. Changes eliminated erosion problems and a fallen tree. Motion made to accept changes. Motion passed unanimously.
• Webster Park: Course changes to eliminate the creek trail that suffered from erosion and overgrowth each year. The course was moved farther from the pavilion on top of the hill to eliminate potential problems with park patrons. Motion was made to accept changes to course. Motion passed unanimously.
• Northampton Park: Course introduced for first year of use. No questions or problems with new course.
• Discussed meet duties at the County Championships.
• Discussed order of races at Counties, Sectionals and States.
• Question about SAT and ACT dates—chairmen will research and send out with minutes
• Discussed getting more awards for modified at County Meet.
• Matt Tytler showed all coaches how to enter their rosters and results on the county website.
